Five Fantastic New Year’s Resolutions For Higher Education

While 2009 may not be forever remembered for its education related headlines, it was a banner year none-the-less. The recession has seen massive growth in students enrolling in education programs and online degree programs. The need to stay competitive within industries has become so demanding that it’s almost vital to update your resume with a contemporary degree or certification.

As we prepare to countdown to 2010 and welcome a new year, we’ve got five great New Year’s Resolutions to help shake off the dust of year’s past and get on track with new education goals. There’s never been a better time to make yourself more desirable for employers and land the job of your dreams with a powerful degree backing you!

Resolution #1: Do Your Research!

You’d be surprised to see what online programs are available to those interested in furthering their education. Many employers are offering incentives and accommodations for any employee interested in getting a jump on an advanced degree. Take some time to really explore your options and discover what programs are available to you. You may find that everything from funding to free supplies are available with a little time and reading. There’s more degree programs and online education opportunities now than ever before. Take advantage of them!!

Resolution #2: Build A Schedule!

Set aside time for school. It may seem like you have to give up some free-time now but the long term benefits of an advanced degree are well worth it. In a lifetime, you could make over a million dollars more with an advanced degree by comparison to someone lacking this critical credential. Setting a schedule that is both reasonable and firm is the best way to follow through with your education goals and get the most out of your classes.

Resolution #3: No Excuses!

We’ve all got a bit of a procrastinator in us and at times they can be our own worst enemy. Make sure you stay true to your goals and follow through this year. If you decide that it’s time to get back into school, don’t slack on your classes or let your classwork fall by the wayside. It’s time to hold tight to the resolutions and goals you set for yourself and achieve your full potential.

Resolution #4: Make School Fun!

While it may not beat out the New Year’s Eve party, you should try to enjoy the classes you take. Taking classes on subjects you find engaging and interesting is a great way to make school less of a chore and more of a hobby. Sitting down in front of your computer each night for an online degree program that you actually enjoy can make a world of difference when it comes to getting motivated.

Resolution #5: Take Action!

All of this begins with you. Resolutions are only as good as the actions that follow them. If you decide that 2010 is the year to enhance your resume and seek more opportunities with an advanced degree – make it happen! Don’t wait and don’t let this opportunity slip away. You’ve got a whole new year ahead of you and it’s full of potential, make sure you start the year off with a bang by enrolling in an exciting online degree program!
