Individuals who are planning to enroll in campus-based or online degree programs may want to consider taking free online classes before they start, as new research suggests that students whose technical skills are sharp may be more successful in their studies.
Researchers from North Carolina State University have discovered that students who complete their coursework on their laptop may do better on their studies than individuals who use more traditional methods to earn college degrees, MyNC.com reports.
Over the course of two semesters, school administrators tested a pilot program that required students to bring their personal laptops to a writing course. Each of the classrooms were equipped with wireless internet service and more power outlets than a normal room.
Despite professors’ concerns that constant web access would create a distraction, the researchers found that students who brought their laptops to class with them tended to be more focused and were more likely to continue their work outside the classroom.
The scientists suggested that students who complete their studies through colleges online may be more tech-savvy, which could help them complete their coursework more efficiently.
Prospective degree candidates may want to consider enrolling in similar programs at online colleges, as they may gain technical skills that could help them in both the classroom and the workplace.

I have been trained to take calls in customer service and have learned quite a few details about computer usage. I find that I am really adept at computers and how they work. Do you think this makes me a good candidate to get me degree in information technology?
