Teachers Improve Effectiveness Through Online Degrees

The turbulent economy has many industries focusing on ways to prevent similar financial disasters from occurring in the future. As a result, many employers are ensuring that their workforces are as qualified and effective as possible, which could increase career prospects for individuals who have earned education degrees.

The education sector has placed a great deal of emphasis on making sure teachers are properly serving their students. In turn, educators may want to consider improving their job security by enrolling in university courses online.

Eric Hanushek, a professor at Stanford University, recently suggested that identifying and replacing 6 percent of each school system’s least effective teachers could greatly improve the overall quality of education, Business Lexington reports.

Adoption of similar theories could greatly increase competition for jobs in the education sector, and employers will be likely to prefer candidates who have exceptional qualifications. Masters degrees earned at online graduate schools may help current and prospective teachers gain the skills they will need to motivate their students to do well and, consequently, improve their effectiveness.

As online college degree programs enable students to create their own learning schedules, they may prove to be beneficial to educators whose workdays coincide with school hours.

After doing some research, I found that by going back to school and taking some computer courses online, I can get myself a significantly higher salary as a teacher. I am currently taking those classes and thereby giving myself a raise.

I have been teaching for many years. I just found out that if I go back to school and get extra credit, I can get a substantial raise. Is it possible to take these courses online? How do I find out if schools in my area offer the courses and if they are accredited?

I am a special education teacher in a low income school. The challenge is amazing. I got my degree over 30 years ago before the advent of computers. Are there online courses for those of us that need to learn how to make technology work for us?

The school system that I work for requires that all teachers go back to school every two years to complete a new class. Everyone always dreads when they have to go to school after work. But, now with online school it’s absolutely now such a burden.

It is certainly much easier going to class online as opposed to oncampus. Do the education systems consider an online degree with the same respect as an oncampus degree?

I think re-certification is a great idea to keep teachers up to date with the new generation of students and teaching methods. Online courses are great at providing that opportunity luckily.

Hey John. A survey by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) found that almost 70% of corporate supervisors rated the value of a distance degree as “just as valuable” or “more valuable” than resident-school degrees in the same field. When you’re considering schools you’ll also want to look at what kind of accreditation they have as the highest and most widely recognized accreditation is called a “regional accreditation”.
