Complement Online Bachelors Degree Programs With a Paid Internship

Whether enrolled in an on-campus program or studying an online degree program, bachelors degree students can always benefit from extra-curricular activities. Showing that one has outside interests can help boost their resumes and make them more attractive to future employers.

Those who want to get hands-on career experience during a break in classes might want to consider taking a paid internship. The experience can both be enriching for the student’s mind – and wallet – and may help cover some expenses during the semester.

In fact, students pursing their bachelors degrees may find that their summer internship is more lucrative than they expect. According to last year’s figures from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), almost 70 percent of interns during 2007 and 2008 were offered employment by the organization.

Bachelors degree students who hope to pad their wallets a little by the end of their internship may be encouraged by further NACE statistics. Interns at the bachelors degree level should expect to be paid an average of $17 per hour.

Individuals working towards their bachelors degree can gain a lot from summer or part-time internships in order to enjoy real-world experience in their chosen field.

I am taking classes in accounting online and it is just great. I got a summer internship last summer and now they are going to hire me. So this is great advice.

This sounds really good. Is there anything along these lines happening on Maui (in Hawaii)? I’m studying For a Bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurial Studies at Grand Canyon University Online.

Is it difficult to find an internship if you are taking classes online instead of at a university?

This sounds like such a good idea. Now that summer is here, I know a lot of places are hiring college students and it would probably be a good time to look for an internship. Do I just a apply for a job and then ask to be an intern?

I worked in an accounting firm as an intern for a year, but now they are having financial trouble and cannot hire me. Do I try for another internship?

I love this article. I currently work in a large corporation as a customer service rep. I have been taking courses in computer technology online. After reading this article, I spoke to my boss about becoming an intern part time in the IT deparetment. She has arranged for that internship and if I do well, I will get transferred and get a raise.

It seems like internships are really easy to find right now. Many companies are looking for free employees.

I don’t think I’d have gotten the job I did out of college if I hadn’t interned extensively while in college. Not all of them were paid but I really appreciated the ones that were. You can’t really go wrong with getting paid to learn on the job skills and maybe even get some college credit for it while you are at it too!

Hi Sammy, I’d recommend using your school’s career directory to find internships. If not, you can try financial aid websites or ones geared specifically for internships like internships.com

Hey HR. To find a paid internship in your area, use your own networks first! Talk to peers, neighbors, teachers and other faculty members to see if they know of any in the area they could recommend. Websites like internships.com is another great source.
