Nursing degrees and teaching degrees may have been the most popular field of study for women years ago, but times have changed. Forbes.com reports that many college women today are majoring in business and this includes those earning a business degree online.
According to the news source, over 18 percent of women college graduates are finishing school with business degrees.
However, a gender split remains in other key majors, according to the media outlet. Health and clinical science ranked second among women graduates, while engineering and computer science degrees remain dominated by men.
“Research has shown that women tend to gravitate towards fields of studies and career paths where they can have a positive social impact and work with others, often collaboratively,” Linda Basch, president of the National Council for Research on Women (NCRW), told the news source.
According to BusinessSchoolEdge.com, the average salary of an individual with a degree in business administration is $80,000 annually. This figure represents graduates of campus-based programs and online business degrees as well.
