The News and Advance is reporting that the “Engineers PRODUCED in Virginia” program will allow people to obtain an engineering degree from the University of Virginia and remain close to home. Students will take online classes and complete coursework via the internet.
Danville Community College started offering associates degrees in engineering two years ago. Now students can complete that program and continue their studies at the University of Virginia.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job growth for engineers over the next decade is anticipated to increase by at least 10 percent. People who complete an engineering degree can expect to have a competitive edge in the job market.
Engineering degree hopefuls may also turn to online colleges and online courses to earn an online bachelor engineering degree. The University of Phoenix is just one of the many online institutions that allow candidates to earn an engineering degree online from the comfort of their own home.
