Science and higher education are no longer considered only men’s fields. Increasingly, women are showing interest in pursuing PhD programs in the sciences and they are being encouraged to do so at younger ages. The growing numbers of available science PhD programs online is adding to the popularity of women earning this advanced degree.
Gone are the days where women were expected to excel in the humanities only. Now, even primary school kids are learning about the importance of studying science – and perhaps considering a PhD degree program in the future.
In fact, one New Jersey institution recently held a “Women in Science Day” for younger ladies to consider science and higher education as a potential career path, The Daily Record reported.
At the event, young students were encouraged to consider choosing a science degree, and they met with other professors and successful women who answered questions and provided inspiration. The women who participated in discussions had a wide range of careers from a veterinarian to a dietitian and a hair dye developer from L’Oreal, the news provider revealed.
It’s never too early or too late to consider pursuing a PhD program. Many people find the research, continued learning and opportunity to teach that accompanies a PhD program to form an extremely rewarding and challenging career.
If you think that you do not have time to pursue a PhD, you might consider an online degree program. Many women are finding out that there are high-quality doctorate programs offered completely online. The online PhD option allows you to go back to school without having to sacrifice your current job or time with your family.

Hi Amy: Well, you do have a leg up since you have an associates. It will take you another 2 years to get your bachelors, 2 years for your masters, and another 2 for the PhD. But once you are done you will be an expert!
