Online College Provide Parents With Valuable Technology Skills

One great benefit parents attending college online is that it introduces them to new computer systems and modern technology. At times, these individuals have been out of school for a number of years and may not be up-to-date on the latest gadgets or software, and while they are enrolled in an online degree program, they can pick up new, valuable skills.

For instance, more institutions are choosing to bring items like the Kindle or iPad into their classrooms. A recent article at NJ.com examined how MBA students could learn by taking courses with the iPad. Not only does it give them the option to study anywhere at any time, but it also incorporates new business terms and ideas into the curricula. For instance, students learn to incorporate “social media marketing” and “mobile press releases” into their vocabulary, the news provider reveals.

Such new developments highlight how college for parents has changed for the better. Busy parents need not worry about putting off their degrees due to concerns about childcare, for such online degree programs can help them study on their own schedule, from the comfort of their home.

Alex took the words right out of my mouth! From what I understand as long as it is an accredited university online degrees are the exact same :)

I’ve got a little Lebooski on the way and I think furthering my education online sounds like a good idea now. Are online courses less expensive than courses in person?

The freedom to take classes anywhere is enticing but I’ll stick to my laptop rather than an ipad haha

I am the single mom of three children. I think it would be so great to be able to get my degree from home and know that I am equipped to make enough money to support them. Thank you for this information.

This is so great. I started my online classes last year and have learned so much about technology. I have already gotten a job in a small office, just because I now know how to use a computer. I can’t wait to finish my degree and move up to a better positioin.

I am pretty technologically adept, but I always have questions when I try to do classes online. Is there a website or a class where one can ask how do do something online, or related to processing, etc. ?

I agree with Jeff, getting people more comfortable with technology while at the same time getting them a degree they can use to improve their financial situation in life is win/win for everyone involved, not just the parents in the class! Do you have a list of the degree programs offered this way?

Technology is taking over the world. I think this is a good thing. I am looking for a class where I can learn all of the little nuances of technology, like how to connect phone and computer, manage my home online, etc. Is there a class like that?
