Social Media Connects Online Military Students

Some military students choose online schools because they allow for flexible study, which can benefit those who may be serving abroad. While this is an excellent way to obtain a bachelors degree or associate degree, it can feel a little strange being the sole military student in one’s school or class.

However, the same thing that allows military students overseas to obtain additional qualifications can also help them connect with others. Thanks to innovations in social media, military students going to online schools can now interact with one another over the internet.

According to the Daily Targum, military students and their classmates who are veterans have started utilizing social networks in order to form their own community. This helps those still serving abroad and military students on campus feel as if they are all connected.

Participants in these online forums can share ideas, inspire one another or give class advice. In addition, a military student abroad may feel a little closer to home if he or she is able to contact a fellow student back in America.

Military students who find that they have similar online schedules may even organize study breaks with classmates who are thousands of miles apart, thanks to the power of the internet.

I also think that this is a great way to soldiers in other places in the world can feel like there is still a connection with home. They can enroll in an online college in their hometown, what a great idea.

I just came back from Iraq and did take an online class while I was there. One of the best parts of taking that class was feeling like part of me was still home.

You should definitely go see your Education Officer. You should also visit the VA site to learn more about your GI Bill benefits. Plus, Education Connection can help you find military friendly schools that offer discounts and are part of the Yellow Ribbon program. Just follow the link.

My dad was telling me the other day how he was jealous that he didn’t have things like this back when he was in the service

I am currently taking online classes and am stationed in Georgia. I am getting ready to be sent overseas. Can I still continue to take my classes overseas? Do I need any special equipment?

I am currently thinking of taking some online classes, but I am being deployed to Iraq. Is it realistic to think I will be able to take classes during my stay over there?
