Online Education Makes it Possible to Study Anywhere

One of the benefits to choosing online education is that students are able to study at any location, provided they can access the internet. Recently, some students probably learned the value of this opportunity if they were traveling to or from Europe.

Eyjafjallajokull, an active volcano in Iceland, recently erupted and hundreds of tons of ash, debris and smoke billowed out into the atmosphere. The ash was so thick and deemed dangerous for planes to fly through, so hundreds of flights were abruptly canceled until the cloud passed, media sources reported. This left many tourists stranded in airports across Europe and America – a good number of which probably intended on a short vacation.

Individuals who were enrolled in online degree programs at this time may have been able to continue their studies despite this disruption in travel plans.

Online education can be a good fit for many modern lifestyles as individuals do not have to set plans on hold in order to achieve an associates or bachelors degree. Many people find that choosing an online degree program allows them to build upon their future while still enjoying other activities, such as travel, and it also gives them more time to spend with their families.

Traveling and studying at the same time seems like a great idea. But wouldn’t you be fully involved in your homework/assignments to really enjoy your vacation?

Jesse makes a good point but at the same time I’d be happy I was able to go on that vacation in the first place. If you think about it, online education allows you the freedom of not being restricted to the classroom.

I never even thought about how the eruption would affect people’s school schedule. Just goes to show how online classes can be a good thing :)

This sounds like such a great idea. I am currently employed and must travel quite often on business. So, is it true that as long as I am in a hotel that has an internet connefction, I can continue my studies?

The whole online era is so good. It can even help with the energy problem in people don’t have to drive to go to school, shop and even work.

This is so interesting. I have a job that I need travel constantly. I have been wanting to take some computer courses, but was afraid I would miss too many when I am away. This means that I can take classes from anywhere, so great.

Online education isn’t incompatible with a vacation. Similar to a job, it just takes a higher level of commitment and responsibility to balance the two.

Distance learning is perfect for me since I like to travel a lot and visit friends in other states. I wouldn’t be able to do that by attending a regular class. Luckily, I know when to separate work and play to make it happen!
