As a growing number of people connect to the internet on mobile devices, the need for skilled information technology workers who are capable of creating and running these complex networks is likely to grow. Both traditional and online colleges offer degrees in information technology (IT) that are designed to allow students to take advantage of the need for these workers, and many programs are working to expand their offerings.
Although many traditional colleges do offer IT degrees, students may actually be better served earning an online degree. Since online school often make use of the latest technology and innovations in curriculum development, the online education environment might be a better hands-on learning experience for those who want to pursue a career in mobile technology and networking.
Luckily there is no shortage of high quality online colleges offering IT degrees in a variety of emphasis areas, such as mobile technology. For example, Colorado Technical University recently launched a new bachelors of IT degree, which the school’s CEO, Dr Wallace Pond, said would give students the technological knowledge needed to take advantage of job opportunities, while also providing the business skills to get ahead at a company.
Pond said that these kinds of skills are going to continue to be in demand as more people adopt mobile internet technologies. Also, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that job prospects should remain excellent for individuals with bachelors degrees in technology, and that opportunities will grow faster than most other occupations.
