Single Parent Going Back to School

Here’s my day:  wake up, get my daughter ready for school, take her to school, go to work, pick her up, make dinner, take her to dance, help her with homework and get her bathed and into bed on time.  After all that, the last thing on my mind is college.  However, I know that if I want to advance in my career and be able to afford for her to go to college, I need my master’s degree.  Unfortunately, my schedule does not allow a lot of time for me to hang out on campus.

Luckily, an accredited nearby college has the option for me to earn my degree completely online.  This is such a blessing, because the less time I spend commuting back and forth to school, the more time I can spend with my child.  I can log in to my class and study according to my schedule.  Additionally, I feel like I will get a better education; when I earned my BA, I noticed that a lot of professors spent an inordinate amount of time on asides that weren’t very relevant to the class—I ended up teaching myself the material at home! If not for the flexibility and focus of online masters programs , I would not even be thinking about it getting one.
